FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I never thought much about what I was putting into my body when I was younger. However, as I have aged, my eating habits have evolved. Gone are the days of eating whatever whenever.  Health concerns are probably the main reason one alters what they eat and I feel like weight would be the second.

Instead of the typical 3 meals a day, people are changing up their habits of timing and eating more to gain optimal results from the food they are using as their fuel.  I eat one meal a day, dinner.  Some times that happens at 4pm and some days more like 6pm…but I try and drink water all day and then eat dinner and dessert if I want.  Now if I want food during the day, I do not starve myself and I eat what I want but I have found this to work best for my lifestyle and health concerns.

One thing I am hoping you gain by reading this is eating fresh food with few ingredients and eating less processed foods.  The cleaner we eat, the better we feel.  Have a piece of meat, fish or chicken with a couple of vegetables as sides and fruit as a dessert and you will kill the constant sugar cravings and weight battles.

We used to go out and buy ice cream or pancakes from the frozen section at the grocery store and now we are opting to make our own.  We notice we are using less ingredients, having faster cook times, less stomach issues and overall better tasting food.  On top of all of this you also save money going this route. I suggest taking some of your favorite processed foods and finding the fresh alternative and see how you feel.

*COMPANIES I PROMOTE* I am obsessed with making our own ice cream and I have found the Green Pan Frost Machine to be the easiest and most consistent machine.  I am making ice cream about 2 times a week and loving the ease of making it but most of all the light and creamy taste of it.  Check it out here.

*JAJ TIP* Look for healthy foods you like and creative ways to prepare them.  For example on Instagram I saw someone taking cut up berries, placing them in a Pyrex and then pouring melted chocolate over it and then chilling in the fridge to make fruit bark. Simple ingredients and simple prep equals a delicious snack.  Look around for ideas that interest you and enjoy.

*PLANNING TIP*  To help keep you on track and away from bad eating habits I suggest you make a list before you go to the store and stick to only what you have on the list. This keeps you from buying snacks that can tempt you at home.  When you have food cravings you can always grab a glass of water to help curb that hunger.
